GM’S Take Notice

Red_sox_100_26 Major league GM’s when your sorting through your trade offers here are a few things to consider when weighing which team will be the best trade partner.  If you look at some recent trades between the Red Sox and other major league teams you will have to conclude that your odd’s will be good that a trade with the Sox can and will pay off in the long run and maybe even the short run as well.  Here five trades that make the case for trading with the Sox

1.Bronson Arroyo for Wily Mo Pena-Bronson has been a great 1# or 2# type starter and has made a difference for a team trying to make the playoffs

2.Coco Crisp for Andy Marte- Marte is one of the top five prospects in baseball and looks to be starting for Cleveland this season

3.Edgar Renteria for Andy Marte- Renteria is having a great comeback season, and even made the all star team, plus the Sox payed most of his 06 salary.

4.Josh Beckett & Mike Lowell for Hanley Ramirez and Anibel Sanchez-Sanchez the throw in this trade has been great so far going 4-0 with a 3.00 era while Ramirez has had a great everyday shortstop batting .265 and has 28 stolen bases, and showing flashes of being a future all-star

5.Josh Bard for Doug Mirabelli-The Sox took a .160 hitter off the Padres hands and in return they got a back-up catcher who has hit for power and is batting around .368 in his time in San Diego.

Now I don’t think the numbers lie at all, the Red Sox are a great team to do buisness with, unlike the Yankees who only want your top players and want to give nothing in return.  So GM’s when you go to the trading deadline this year think Boston Red Sox.

    Hey,
Just a few comments. First, I would like to predict that Crisp goes on fire to finish of the year and prove you wrong. Second, Hanley Ramirez has cooled off of late, and if he does not evolve into an all star within the next few years (which he probably will) the deal would be OK – Lowell has been great and Beckett seems to be improving. Third, you are right about the Padres getting a great deal in the bard trade, but the Red Sox got somebody who could actually catch wakefield.

Being down here in SoFla, I can confirm that the Fish are pleased with Hanley and Anibal

[the other day I was at a game with a friend, and I commented, the “Sanchez for Lowell portion of the trade was Anibal for Uniball.” Oooohhh! Absolutely unfunny, and now I’ve gone and put it on your blog; I’m so ashamed].

When I turn on my tube and see Beckett on the hill with Lowell and and AGon behind him, it’s wierd. Reminds me of ’03 – hey, at least they whacked the Yankees.

I also agree with Isaiah (great name!). I think the positives you didn’t point out make the majority of the deals you mentioned tolerable, if not more, for our Sox. Big game today…let’s lose these doldrums.
